Hi all

My tank has been cycling for a few days now. Salinity is around 1.0021-23(I forget how many zero beforehand). Water is crystal clear with a mix of Marine Substrate and crushed coral gravel. I'm going to add the live sand today(nature's own). When should I start adding live rock?

Can I put this before I put fish or should I wait longer until the tank is cycled?

Thanks

You want to add as much live rock as poss as quick as poss.

This will help the tank not only cycle but also filter.

When the nitrites and Ammonia are down to 0 you can then look at adding your clean up crew (snails, crabs and shrimps etc)

About 2 weeks later after a water change and nitrates are down to near enough 0 fish can begin but slowly.

Think thats about right as im new to this aswell.

Yeah thats right G7EG :)

halume, I wouldn't use LS if I were you. Its a waste of $$ because live rock will seed a sand bed very quickly with beneficial life. Live sand is a marketing gimmick in my oppinion. If you allready have it and can't get a refund on it, go ahead and use it. Otherwise, dont buy it or return it and just use aragonite sand for your substrate.

Spend the money on rock, its a much better long term investment
