When is the best time to move a pregnant platy into a maternity tank?

:) One of my female platies is pregnant and I would like to move her into my 2.5 gallon tank to deliver her fry. I can already see the fry's tiny eyes pressing against her belly, so I know she's going to have them soon. Even though there are many females in the tank, my male platies constantly follow after her. She spends most of her time hiding in the plants at the back of the tank. I want to be able to save as many fry as possible, but I don't want to stress her out by moving her too early. -_-

Well I think that if you think she will have them soon then I'd move her bcuz it's better sooner than late. I was worried about the same thing once and then before I knew it she had them in the big aquarium but luckily I saved 8. Good luck with her!!!!!!!!! :)

:) Thanks. I moved her into the maternity tank and she seems calm. I covered the bottom with breeding grass, so the fry would have cover.
