First off very sorry for your loss.
If you don't want to lose another one please heed the advise given by other posters - keeping a betta in a bowl or vase he's not going to last long.
He'll die of ammonia poisoning if you're not changing the water in that vase every other day with conditioned water, etc. He'll be totally stressed in that tiny space and die. Bettas need to swim and explore their environment. They also need hides (caves, betta logs on Chewy.com) etc live plants are best but silk will do .
Generally the smaller the tank, the more experience it takes to keep the water parameters stable I keep mine in a 10 gallon. Five gallon is recommended by fish Veterinarians.

He's such a pretty boy it would be a shame when something happens to him because of that vase.
