afternoon all!
my cory fry are nearly a month old so a few days back i put three of the largest fry back in with the parents, all seems fine with those.
now theres another 20 fry to go, they were all hatched at the same 'time' but there are some really tiny looking ones there, will the parents eat them if i add them to the cory tank? i have 80+ eggs i want to tranfer to the fry tank but dont want the different ages mixed up so would really prefer the fry out, but dont want to doom them.
opinions please, will it be safe to put them in? and any ideas as to why some are soo small, they look like they've hardly grown, whereas others are huge in comparison and look just like little corys (not like a stick with a rounded head as the little ones do!)

bump for advice?

im leaning towards throwing them all in with the parents?

If all you have is cories in the parents' tank, I would be tempted to return them all. I do not worry about adult cories with my other fish's fry so I doubt I would worry about them with their own fry.

well i put them all in last night, and this morning i can only see 2. i just hope the others are hiding well :(

hi Spishkey
chances are they are hideing
iv always put mine in at around 1cm and they have all survived with the pairents :good:

seen a couple more today and even found a newly ish hatched one in the filter (eggs hatched again two days back but i left them in the tank this time)

they look so much bigger in the parent tank its amazing!!!

Hi Spishkey :)

It's not at all unusual to find a big difference in size among the same batch of fry. I suspect that in nature some of the little ones would not make it, but due to your good care they are hanging in. Try to be sure they get enough to eat and keep up with the water changes.

Good luck with them.

Yes, this is where breeders would cull their smaller/weaker fry, allowing the stronger ones to thrive. There will always be 'runts of the litter', so to speak.

Hi Spishkey,

Maybe there was some shock introduced by putting them back in the main tank IE: temp/PH?. Hence the reason some have Disapeared( died )
