When a hobby becomes a chore

thanks everyone for your replies and good wishes, i don't intend to give up, just will be taking a break right now, some of the things i said were misunderstood(ie fishless cycle) i didnt meant that i DID a fishless cycle, i meant that next time i WILL be doing a fishless cycle. but nevertheless its all in the past now.

AT least this time i know what to avoid, and know how to avoid at least some of the mistakes i made in the past, and the biggest thing i learned was to be patient, my next tanks will be 100 times better than the last, because of the things i have learned on these boards, ill post pics when ever i start the new tank(s)

Did you think that the problem might be the TEST? It seems that if you keep changing water and you keep having high ammonia levels, there is something wrong with the water or the test...borrow one from a friend or get a new one. It wont be a waste of money as long as you don't give up the fish hobby. You'll need the new one sooner or later anyway. With the new test test the water straight from the tap, as well as the water in the tank.

As far as the above suggestion for redoing the tank, it sounds good to me, IF you go nice and slow adding fish, like 1 or 2 at a time. That adds ammonia slaowly to the tank to give the bacteria time to adjust, then once the cycle is going, add 1 or 2 more only, give the bacteria time to adjust. Tanks crach when too many fish are added at once, not giving the bacteria a chance to catch up to the level of waste.
