I was sold this as a leather hand I believe that it is a colt coral now. It was doing fine until recently it liked to drop a little to the left occasionaly and get caught in my power head filter cap. It was okay now it seems like all the stalks are dying. I could understand if one of the stalks died but how come they are all doing this and all other corals are perfectly fine. All stats are fine and calcium is okay also.

hey i have one ofthose i think* it looks the same... im not sure if its a kenya tree or what you said i never heard the guy say, but you can see from my posting in nano reefs about the pics just look for my name sry i dnt have the link n im rushing, but i guess they can damge VERY easily and if torn anywhere infection will take them out for sure. very brittle. i had a scare becuase my shrimp with his sharp feet decided to chase some foos and jumped all over it a million times but it quickly sucked into itself and became hard .... myne truns green and is 1' big when its not in the light, but as soon as they go on hes up to 6" and i kno he can b bigger. sry;( maybeyou can get another one from your lfs and say it died of natural causes a few days after u bought it??? i dno when u got it tho... so sry, hope i helped a lil

Looks like a colt/Pussey coral.. it might be a devils finger but its hard to see from the photo. Is the coral more like putty when you touch or is it completely soft tothe touch? If its the former then its more likely to be a devils finger and the deflation looks serious for this as their more stiffened bodies dont ted to allow them to fall over like this.

If its a colt/pussey coral however then they can go into huge sulks like this. They do no tlike being touch even in the slightest quantities so if you have brushed against it lately this could well be the cause. Look to see if there are other corals nearby that might be stinging it as this might be the cause.. Unlikely though because the colt corals pack a very potent sting and can usually lfter itself.

Thanks guys, I think you might be on to something. I think the powerhead injury caused a infection or something to it. I really miss it, It looked so good and was attaching to my overflows, pretty cool. I will eventually have to find another.

I had to pull the rock out today and trash it, it was shedding like a mad man that was a nitrate problem waiting to happen lol.

But, Navarre I believe it was a colt it was extremly soft to the touch, the base was a little more leathery. He called it leather hands? From pictures I can find on the internet it looks like a Colt Coral...you can see it real good in this full tank shot.

If you right click the pics and goto properties they should be named the kind of coral they are. We definately have some nice LFS's around here. :)

Jeff, Jen,

Fantastic tank!,

How do you keep the glass so clean with the rock close to the glass too?

Every one of your corals is going on my list of wants!

Fatty :)

Thanks!

There are parts where there are not enough clearance and they have a bit of algae, but its not enough to notice becuase its dark where it comes in contact. I just clean around that area.

Definately don't waste alot of money on a full grown xenia it grows like weeds! Less than 1 month pretty much has 3x it original size! Its insane!

wow- that's a fantastic tank! I WANT ONE!!!

Agreed... Now if only I can find an elegance coral that costs less than a billion dollars.

We have an LFS near us that is a petstore/fish store which usually they are not very good but this guy seems pretty knowledgeable and occasionally has great corals. We got our elegance from him and paid $60 for it. :fun: At our other LFS where we buy our corals his elegants are usually over $100. Dr Foster and Smith Liveaquaria website currently has an elegant for sale I think in the divers den section that looks almost exactly like ours and costs $150. Id say we got a great deal!
