green/blue 'stuff' - sounds like it could be algae! Does it look a bit like fur covering ornaments, plants, glass, etc or is the blue/green stuff on the fish?

How many fish and which type?
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph?

Do you mean blue on the fish?
Any signs of flicking and rubbing?
Darting?
Excess mucas on body, fins?

That's definitely a green tiger barb. I think they are one of the most active fish around

Think you could be right. I had 2 of these lost one last week with a fin missing and lost a neon tetra this week again with a fin missing. Putting it down to this devil

there is nothing wrong with the fish, it is just the color of the scales

Tiger barbs are a boisterous, shoaling fish. They can be part of a community of sturdy fish in a large enough tank, if kept in groups of six or more. Say, a tank larger than fifty gallons. In anything smaller (numbers or volume), they will harass all the other fish (including other barbs) mercilessly.
