what's the quietest barb?

I've heard that some barbs can be quite agressive (or annoying), and as I was planning to get some, which ones are the nicest?

I think I'm already fully stocked but I would like to add a couple more... and my other fishes are: 2 dwarf gouramis (a couple, and I get some fry like every 10 days), 3 cory punctatus, 2 german blue rams (couple) 3 rasbora maculata, 4 rummy nose tetras, 9 cardinals, 4 ottos, 1 neritina zebra. All this in a 19G with a lot of plants.

You're already WAY too overstocked.

I wouldn't add any more either you are overstocked, you will only be taking out dead fish if you put anymore in your tank.

I agree,it sounds to me like your tank is too crowded.Just for the record though,Cherry Barbs are peaceful enough but I would invest in another tank first before thinking of purchasing any more fish.

Like everyone has said... you have way to many fish in there to start with.

I personally love Rosy Barbs. I have always had some in my tank, and have been keeping fish for 6 ish years now. They are beautiful in colour... reddy orange and greenish on the bottom and shiny/metallic. They school closely, and when in a group they dont bug any of my other - much smaller - fish.

They are about 3 - 3 1/2 inches full grown, and in order to keep them happy you would need a school of 6 or more, and that alone would fill up your 19gal.

im surprised your not already taking out dead fish. how could you think of adding more? I would get a new tank soon if I were you to put some of the fish you already have in.

Cummings Barb or Five Striped barb (same fish). They look a bit like Tiger barbs but are extremley peacfull, I keep mine with a betta so you can be assured they don't fin nip. Quite hard to get though I beleive, I haven't seen any for months.

DON'T BUY ANY THOUGH! YOU DON'T HAVE ROOM.

You may think you do, but you don't, trust me I did it too and had a few die and had to give some away.

I'm not adding more fishes - yet. One thing is to say "you can't" other is "you shouldn't". I haven't had any losses so far (call it pure luck if you wish), even the neons are doing fine. Ammonia and nitrite levels are under control (aka "0").

One thing is to add 4 or 6 barbs which I think I really don't have room for (neither I want to do that - they're too big for my tastes), but I think there is some room for tiny ones like rasboras and neons, despite of what most people say. Of course the more room for the fishes the better, but I personally disagree with the "it's impossible" comments. It is possible, sort of. Might not be ideal, but it's possible.
