What's The Big Deal Anyway?

I am so glad you guys make me laugh!

RCA-I am still so confused with all the different types of bike. I will come back with the wrong one for sure. Next thing i will have legs like pop eye.

Jen-No unfortunately there isn't an evans cycles, there is however a specialized bikes shop-oh wow the pink BMX...

Daize-hope you're ok now. What a horrible thing. At least you still went out on the bike!

TT-that is my biggest fear, riding along and the handle bars come off then it would just be the comedy moment like in cartoons, I would be straight down the hill, through the traffic narrowly missing everything and shouting "GET OUT THE WAY" as I zoom towards the roundabout, go over the middle n end up in a bin

I'm fine now.  :)  Felt queasy for a few hours and then slept through the rest of the day!  Back to normal now lol

I've got as far as investigating frame size.  I'm looking at mountain bikes since I will mostly be riding off-road - I don't do roads :p
I found this http://www.evanscycles.com/help/bike-sizing#womensmountain.  I'm 5'10" tall so according to this I should be looking for a size 18" frame.

Still not sure about the whole hardtail/full suspension thing.  I thought hardtail sounded best since I'll be cycling mostly on forest trails, not up and down mountains but then again I'm hoping to have a child seat on the back so rear suspension might be a bonus for the little one, what do you think?

 I know a guy who was cycling in fog and he hit a bus. He broke his spine. :(

Rear suspension might be good for your rear too, Daize! lol
You have a weird sense of humour TT or were you laughing at someone else's post? It's difficult to tell

FYP. ;)

As long as your feet can touch the ground comfortably when on the bike... just use it like a scooter... you will soon be riding without even realizing.

Edit...you can do this Nylah.

When I was 14, I was riding back to school in February, and it was snowing quite hard - I just put my head down and rode. Consequently, I didn't see the parked car. When I came round, the owner of the car was sorting me out. I had fractured my eye socket, and a piece of the coloured plastic from the rear light cluster had punctured the skin about ½" below my left eye. Had it gone much higher, it would have blinded me. Thankfully, it didn't, and the scar just looks like a natural ageing line, so it hasn't spoilt my beauty too much (I bet I can guess who will answer that bit....)

I had a huge black eye for about a month afterwards.

But don't let that put you off, Ny......

Just out of interest, who were you referring to?

I visited Halfords today to see what they had.  They showed me these:

Apollo Jewel Women's Mountain Bike £129.99
Apollo Twilight Women's Mountain Bike £179.99

The Twilight model has an aluminium frame and felt nice and light.  I've just noticed the online price is £20 cheaper too!
It's hardtail (apparently I can't have a child seat with rear suspension anyway).

I'm tempted to go ahead and buy the aluminium Apollo Twilight while the special offer is still on!

Good god what's with the horror stories? I am not going back to halfrauds. He insisted I need a mountain bike-i'm not going up mountains or rocky terrain.
Those look good Daize, I liked this myself

IT IS AWESOME!!! Probably defeating the purpose but at least my feet comfortably reached the ground

I also liked this since pink is my favourite colour!
