I've set up a 200ltr tank to breed convicts in. I have a male black con ready to be moved over when it's cycled and want to ultimately get him to pair off with an albino con. I've seen some albinos at my lfs and was able to spot a couple of females though they were slightly smaller than him (but not too much, I think.. maybe a couple of cm).

So what's the best way to get a pair in this situation? Should I get a few albino females, put them in the tank on their own for a couple of weeks and then introduce the male? Should I introduce them all at the same time? How many females should I try to get? Obviously, when a pair forms, I'd take back the other females.

Thanks for any help!

I don't know how much 200ltr's are but I wouldn't worry about putting them in in any particular order as far as male first or females first.

I would get a male and as many females as will be appropriate for your size tank (since you said you're taking all the rest back after a pair is formed) and get a couple caves.

Do you have a place for all of the fry you'll be getting? Most LFS's won't want them, if you've found one that does, that would be great, tho. They'll breed every 2-3 weeks at times.

Cheers Gatorbait. :good: I'm glad I can put the male in first.. he's harassing my silver dollars at the moment!

I'm going to be breeding them for feeders, so no worries about the prolific breeding! I'll be asking at the lfs if they're interested in each batch before I use them as feeders, though.
