:D

Just purchased a Male Beta - Blue.

Hes currently living in a 3.5 g tank with a borneo sucker - a peice of wood
and 3 plants.

I also have a filter running with carbon and amonia chips - ive already drained
it once and hes only been in for 3 days. I no that they like to be clean.

And in case your wondering

ammonia 0ppm
nitrate 0ppm
nitrite 0ppm

ph 6.8

70 degrees

Now my question :

I thought that they loved to swim around mine seems like slink around and hide under the wood - and then comes out as if to say - i can see you you cannot see me your a dumb @ss.

Next question :

Been feeding him bloodworm - is there anything ANYTHING else that I can feed him that he would be happy with?

Last question :

Is the tank to small to put in a female? :dunno:

Defintely too small for a female :) He may be hiding because 70 is pretty chilly :/ At 68 they go into hypothermia.

Bloodworms are great. Get him a pellet of some sort too (preferably Hikari). Also frozen brine or mysis are readily accepted.

oh no!!!

added a bit to must stress coat to the tank and had a massive bloom!!

water white and murky - did a 90% water change - temp now up to 72

heres the problem..... hes just laying around doing nothing - the waters chrystal clear again - all tests show oppm etc but his mouth has now got 2 white spots!!

hes not eating the blood worm i gave him so i gave him some brine shrimp he says you can stick that to

otherwise he dont look sick - attached a mirror to the side of the tank and occasionally he'll go over and flex etc at his reflection - coz hes the BLUE BANDITT and hes cool although hes scared himself several times flexing - he must think that other betta is pretty kick @ss.

just read some posts and added some melafix !!!!

Some bettas are just shy ............ They will eat about anything ... Mine get the occasional tropical flake even ... I hate too say it but he may be sick

yeah he may be sick...sorry! hes probably stressed too from all the change...but after a while he will settle down and youll see him moving around a little bit more. bio-gold pellets are good for bettas...but since your feeding him a little more high class food he might not take it! hehe good luck!

yes he seems to have perked up as soon as I put some melafix and white spot cure into the tank - meth blue.

Hes swimming around fine now and his mouth is ok again.

He hasnt eaten the brine shrimp though - did have some bloodworm - think i might have to go to the petshop and find out what he was feeding it as apparantly he had it for sometime.

Maybe it likes crap food???? and its sulking

Being sulky in my bettas is normal for the first few days. They won't eat they'll just lay around, occasionaly swim around but other than that looked depressed. Then about the third or fourth day they start perking up IME. He's probably just getting used to his new surroundings

Well I have posted a picture of The Blue Banditts house - was trying to get a photo of him but soon as he saw me he said " damn you fell out of the ugly tree and scadalled!"

Can anyone think of anything else I could put into this to make him happier - temp is over 70 - filtration not causing water disturbance all readings are still 0ppm
and ph 6.8

Any help in tank set up great!!! Wanna make him happy

The picture dont look to flash plant to the left not sure what its called - then the wood with another plant that i dont no the name of that is red - then a java fern.

Its 3.5 g - and has about 7cm of space on the front and back of the wood - then about another 10 cm at each end so he can swim around without hurting himself - there are also hollows under the wood where he seems to like to spend the majority of his days

Im not computer savy

Went back to the fish shop and purchased what hes been fed on there - Some JBL Colour Pallets - put it in and hey wallah hes eating like a cow.

So I guess the best that you can provide for your fish isnt always what it wants.

Mines a cheap date...
