Whats My Tank Doing?

Hi all,got a second hand tank on sunday.The bloke i got it from kept the filter media wet and has had his tank up and running for two years.Set it all up on Sunday and is lovely,added 6 tetras on monday and have tested the water daily since sunday.No ammonia or nitrite is present.When would i be likely to see a spike in ammonia?Am hoping that because the filter media is mature that i wont have a prob.Have also yesterday transfered my plec into the tank.any thoughts please?Thanks

i think you only get a spike whilst cycling, but don't quote me on that

Thats a pretty light load... sounds like the filter is still ok, in which case you may never see ammonia ! Keep checking for a week or so just in case.

and if you have plants with that amount of fish any amonia will be taken up by them
