Whats going on with my corydora!? 😞

bacterial infection, possibly from a wound if the fish got spiked, or bad food.

Bad food... Like expired? Maybe I should check the expiration on my pellets... I have had them for a while

If the pellets are clean and dry and don't have mould or fungus, they should be ok if they have been open for less than 6 months.

Frozen foods are more likely to be an issue compared to dry foods.

Ohh... I've had this food way past 6 months I think... My frozen food is in blister packs and doesn't expire until 2024, so that's fine... The dry food may be a problem though...

Frozen food can be dodgy when you or the shop gets it regardless of the expiry date. All it takes is for the food to defrost and get refrozen some time later and it's a potential bomb. There's also a possibility the live food was contaminated with something before it was caught and packed. This is more of an issue with frozen Daphnia and bloodworms or live Tubifex worms. Cheaper Asian brands of frozen food are more likely to cause problems.

If the frozen food has been irradiated, it is normally safe.

Yah, maybe I need to replace all the food I have... I don't want to risk anything

Surely if its a food issue then more than just the one Corydoras would have been affected?

I wouldn't chuck the frozen food yet. Feed the fish some each day for a week and see if anymore develop the same symptoms. If they do, then throw the food.

Well I don't want to risk getting them sick... I'd rather play it safe and replace it, then take a bigger hit and get my fish sick
