Whats A Chiller?

What do these things do? part from chill ur water?? are they only needed if ur cant get ur temp down in ur tank? I'm gettin alot of evaportation from my tank and wondering if these will help...

Chillers are.....chillers. They decrease the water temperature in your tank. However, water isn't just lost from high temp, although low temp will reduce it. Water can evaporate when it is cool if there is a lot of air movement over it. So, cooling will decrease your tank temp and can reduce the rate of evaporation but won't eliminate it. SH

Agreed. Chillers are costly both to purchase and to run, and not really a good idea unless you're having problems keeping your temp down. Most chillers will draw as much current as a small metal halide so keep that in mind
