Why does it say for fresh water only? Just curious:)

you should go for a skimmer, or your PO4/NO3 may creep up on you. buy a cheap boyu wg310 of ebay.

i would add another compact lamp along side the one already in their, i would buy a white interpet day light plus lamp, and an appropriate controller if you want corals.

ditch the current power head and buy a koralia 1, the koralia and the stock pump should be enough.

you would need to ditch media for live rock rubble, rowaphos/cheato skimmer, heater etc

you could have a pair of clowns at a push with a small goby and another small fish.

you will need coral sand, Live rock, refractometer, salt (reef or marine depending on corals or not. food, buckets, skimmer and power heads (touched on) test kits (saliferts, and a D+D phoshate test kit (£36))

Why does it say for fresh water only? Just curious:)
probably because of no skimmer etc

hey!

Why do you ask? does it seem suitable for marine?

or are you being sarcastic? =/

hehe thnx

heya truck! thanks for the reply; you're a star!

Okay, so I would need a light, could you point me in the correct direction please? sorry to sound demanding ^^
I also have to buy a koralia and protein skimmer and other bits

how many KG's of LR would i have to buy?

thanks buddy!

lighting:
you would need an interpet 18 watt compact lamp and starter (24 watt if space allows)

koralia 1:

best price on the net for that.

you would need 8kg of live rock in the display and maybe 2kg of rubble in one of the chambers

thanks mate for that, really appreciate it mate ;)

so to upgrade, without fishes and water and salt, im looking at around £200.00? inc live rock and powerhead and RO unit.

And i can buy an RO unit for £50 of ebay will that be good enough?

Could i shop around and buy this stuff 2nd hand? or is brand new reccomended?

thanks! :good:

also, is this the lighting? ^^

second hand is fine, you will only need RO for corals but its recommended anyway. buy a system from RO man around £60 new. and easy to dit apparently.

2nd hand everything else should be fine.

With all due respect to Truck, if I had a pound for every time a customer brought in a Boyu skimmer that was bust, they'd failed to set-up correctly, was noisy e.t.c, the prospect of a resession would not be all that worrying to me due to "excess funds" shall we say :shifty: To be blunt, get a little air driven skimmer for it, costs the same, but less to go wrong and easier to set-up correctly ;) In many cases they will out-perform a Boyu also.

By all means, go second hand, there are many bargains to be had

For RO units, look at ROMAN. You can get units from them from £50, but they will be 25GPD. In real life, with cold water and low mains pressure that's 5GPD it will make at home  Don't get cheap membranes, or your RO will not be up-to-par for corals for long (if at all) Proper TFC membranes are what you want, perferably branded from some big name like ROMAN. Osmotics Membranes aren't upto much IME though.

Trucks Powerhead recomendation looks OK, and the quantity of LR shold be suffice if not overkill :good:

All the best
rabbut

the skimmer i recommended isnt actually a boyu its a knock off and lots of people on UR are using them and say there great i also ran one on my FOWLR last year and it performed great!

Ehhhh cough, cough - Bronzecat is indeed right, this is the freshwater version of the boyu - you don't want this one for Marine, you would have to upgrade the lighting etc.

In the marine version you get marine T5 lighting, skimmer, uv, the little sumps at the back, moon lights

Have you already bought this bagu?

Seffie x
