just curious, my thermometers been bust for ages and I;m wondering whether tank is too cool
did a water change before and the water I put in was pretty warm, it seemed to bring the elegance out and the fungia which has been non puffed up for about 10 days????

makes them grow slower, less extension, also slws bacteria and pod re=production in the rest of the tank down too

I need to sort a decent thermometer out, cheers Ben

do you recomend any?

THIS is what I use Simon, Excellent piece of kit it controls both the heater and my fans. I set the temp to 80.5oF and the heater comes on at 80oF and the fans kick in at 80.7oF does a cracking job and takes out the potential problem of heater thermostats sticking on.

Oooops posted at the same time as you...
Not that much cheaper I am afraid but never the less a excellent piece of kit to add to your list for a future upgrade
Regards john,o

The cheaper option would be an Eheim Jager Heater, they are fitted with very acurate thermostats and are extremely reliable, you can get them on Ebay for less than £15, I run 2 of them now and have had no issues, although as I said before my TC10 controls the tank temp but I've got a 100w one in the tank and a 75w for heating my salt water mixes that uses it's own stat. I've had problems with both Rena and Hydor heaters in the past so won't use them now.

John,o's suggestion of the ATC800 is also good but it's not as accurate as the TC10 unit, you can only adjust the ATC800 in 1oF steps where as the TC10 is adjustable in 0.1oF steps

If you just want a Thermometer then try HERE, they work well but mine goes on the fritz if it gets damp (in my shed), the one on my tank has been ok though.

HTH Simon

Id get either if what the guys above suggested. Although I doubt your tank was at really low temps. room temp all the running equipment etc.
