What Was Your First Tank Set Up

What size was your first tank and what fish did you have when you were a kid or teenager? What was your first serious tank setup? Also if you have pics of either of the set ups I asked about post them on here.


For me my first set up was 2 goldfish in a 2g bowl but my first serious set up was my 10g that had 4 black skirt tetras. But I don't have pics of it to post on here.

10 gallon tank that housed at least 6 goldfish and a weather loach.

I learned quickly though and got a 4ft tank, all the fish lived and all the goldfish were rehomed to a pond.

10g that started with neons and they lived like for 3 years and now i got guppies n' rasboras.

had loads and loads of gold fish when i was younger, always seemed to get a black moor and a red cap at the same time but i only had a 2 gal tank with no filter or any thing just water and a bit of pond weed and some rearly horrible ornament and coloured gravel.

first real set up was a 20 gal communmity which ive done well with.all my fish are in my sig.

Mine was and still is a tank containing:

1 Male Betta
6 Head + Tail Tetras
6 Neon Tetras
2 Bronze Cory Catfish
2 Albino Cory Catfish
1 Yellow-Spotted Plec

It's a lovely tank now..

My first tank setup was and still is a 30 gallon with 2 Black Skirt Tetras, 4 Lemon Tetras, 1 guppy, and 6 Cardinal Tetras.

My first tank was a 1 gal death trap i had back in college. I then got a 5 gal after a month, and kept 3 zebra danios in it for a year. After about a year of the 5 gal, i got a 20 gal, then 6 months later i found my current 40 gal on ebay.

1 common pleco
1 pictus catfish
2 african dwarf frogs
1 khuli loach
pretty sure there are more I can't think of. Always do research.

Photos?! My dear, we were still drawing pictures on cave walls in those days. Go down to Lascaux: some of those wiggles they claim are religious symbols are actually my first guppies.

Seriously though, my first set-up was a tropical community, somewhere in the region of 15 gals, maybe 20; badly planned and overstocked.

My first tank was a 35g, with barbs, danios, platties and neon tetras... not much has changed, other than the tank size. I've got pictures, ill post them when I get home tonight.
