What was the fish

i just decided that I wanted tropical fish one day. I had never kept them before. At first my parents were a bit unsure but then they came home with a pet for my younger sis, and said that I could have fish. A few days later, my Dad came home with a tank that he had bought for me. My first fish were 3 platys, 1 orange male called Bloom, and two females called Maisy and Lula. when Lula died I was so upset, but Maisy gave birth to loads of bubbas, they were so sweet, so tiny, and they've grown up now! I was hooked immediatley.

Well, my first ever fish were 3 guppies... but I don't like to mention them #
So I count my first (and only) fish as a betta

I first kept a variety of community fish, but once i got going, i really got into Zonal aquariums and fish like the glass catfish and things like the kuhli loaches really did it for me.

ive had fish since i was a baby,ofcoarse back then i wasnt interested,i only got interested about 3 years ago,myuncle had some experience so helped me cycle and choose fish,most of the fish i bought back then i still have now in the same tank

my first fish were 5 cardinals, 2 platies(mary, joseph), 2 angelfish(star, gobbler) and a baby platy(baby jesus) that gobbler ate (thats how he got his name)

Red tailed black shark, still got him 4 years down the line, he's a cracker.

Shovelnose catfishes and arowana's, before i had seen these fish i though tropical fish were all about tiny tetras and angelfish etc and although i found them pretty they didnt really do much for me, the fish were more of a interesting focal point of the living room. Then we went to a different LFS and saw some bigger fish and my mind went into over drive, bigger tanks were soon installed and my obsession with large and predatory fish started.

a goldfish i got from a fair. i got one and it was in a bowl. Then it went to a 1 gallon aquarium. ( i didnt know anything back then) then i got my 10 gallon. This all happened within a week. And i ended up havinga fancy adn feeder goldfish in a 1 gallon aquarium till the fancy killed the feeder. Teh fancy lived for almost a year

Goldfish and Orfes I've had for many years and are still great! KEEP THEM IN PONDS!!!!
But Tropicals it has to be the Dwarf Neon Gourami that first got me started. Though I don't think I'd keep them again. Very nice to look at, but very delicate.
Next I would like either some Dwarf or small-ish Puffer Tank.

My first fishes were platies, danios and tetra, but those weren't the fish that "got me into" fish keeping.

It wasnt until i decided to get a larger tank (15G instead of 5G) and then got some plecs and loaches that i really got into it!

Now i have too many tanks and am trying to cut down on them again. I was up to 8 running tanks at one point. Now i am down to 7, but hopefully I will be down to 6, as I really only want 2 smaller tanks and 2 larger ones.

I really wanted a dog! Used to beg my hubby for a puppy but he always said ' no! not until we buy a house' So finally he suggests we get a fish tank instead. I was like 'Fish? yuck.. what good are fish? All they do is swim around, eat and poop'

We went out and bought the tank, got some platies and mollies, and later some cards an angel and pleco and I fell in love!!! I'd sit and watch them swim and play for hours!! Now I'm hooked!

(but I did get my dog 6 months later too )

My first fish was a Black Moor. I pretty much got it on a whim. Had no idea how much the little guy would grow on me. He miraculasly lived for 5 years and I had no clue what I was doing when I started out. I never kept a large community, just the larger cichlids. Now I have Boris my JD all alone in a 55 gallon. The entire tank is his territory and doesnt take kindly to any intruders. I love him.
