i cant find any pictures on the internet that look like my pleco, he's got spots all over, sorry the photo's arent great

Looks like an L982 - the blurry pleco :rofl:

Sorry.. seriously though looks like a common or gibbiceps to me. Hard to tell though.
 
I'll vote for Gibbiceps too - here is my gibbiceps if it helps...His colouring has been somewhat diminished by the ammonia spike when our old tank recycled (I actually thought he would die but he grew his fins back etc very quickly).

Gibbiceps and Commons are the only real large growing Plecs that have the potentail to reach 20" in captivity, however, 12-15" is more likely.
 
:p It looks like a plain old Common but it is still young ya never know. Actually I have a 9 year old Pleco and it's 2 feet?
 
Could also be the Glyptoperichthys joselimaianus or L001/L022. Same as the gibby but light spots on dark background instead.

ummm nope...
a few get to 20 inches....
some get to 12
but quite a lot are 8" or less :D


I'm thinking it might be a blury pic of a bristle nose....
