What Type Of Cichlid Is This?

I picked up a free tank and this was the only fish in there, I've donated him/her to my lfs but I was just wondering what type of cichlid it is

How big is it? Struggling to get scale there, but from the head shape Nannacara anomala springs to mind.

N. anomala don't have eggs spots on their anal fins though, do they?

It looks like a Malawi to me, although I wouldn't like to hazard a guess as to species (plus, there are an awful lot of hybrid Malawis around).

It almost looks like a kenyi... almost.

It's about 4 inches long

Yeah, some sort of Maylandia probably. Not an area I'm that hot on.

For sure it is an Malawi cichlid and not an Nannacara.

Yeah, I'm with you on that now I've looked at it more, and knowing how big it is.
