What type of betta is he?

yep hes definetley a veil tail, but his bottom fin looks split in two..maybe add some aquarium salt to his bowl. is he eating and stuff alright?

He came that way. I don't know if that is how he's suppose to look or not.

That's not normal. He probably just as a split tail. bettamax and aquarium salt helps a lot to heal it up.

It could be a weird genetic mutation too...although that isn't very likely...

Seems to me that there is a decent "chunk" out of the middle to be just a split.

Alright I'll get the BettaMax tomorrow. HOwever, I have never added salt to his tank, how much? It's the 2 gal with 3 zebra danios (sm) and Beaux.


He's had this double veil since before he came home with me in March. I just thought he was a "special" breed. This may never heal to be one whole veil.

what most likely happened is he got it snagged on something, it split but never healed all the way down. using salt is good even if he isnt sick it will prevent diseases. you can buy a box of aquarium salt at walmart for like a dollar in the fish section..and you add one teaspoon per 10 gallons..although i usually add a tad more.

No iits 1 TABLESPOON per 10 us gallons

Well I have not added salt to his tank be/c I talked with the local fish store and they say that he is a veil tail and his veil may have been that way since he was born. He says that there is no scaring or sign that it has been ripped and the way that the veil partition is rounded and not all the way up it looks to be a mutation, but who knows.
