my tank roughly 200L i have in there at the moment 6 X tiger barbs, 2 X baby silver sharks, 4X angles, 1 X clown loaches, 6X snails, 2X chinese algae eaters and 2X some kind of tiny cat fish,

does any one know if it will be ok if i take out the angles and CAE out of my tank and leave the other sharkes and the clown loaches in there for now till they grow up a little then get rid of then because they are only about 1 1/2" longdo you think this will be ok??
or if anyone has any other segestions

My only recomendation is to remove the chinese algae eaters.. they are nasty little buggers in their old age. They will actually try to eat the slime coats off of your other fish. Some people may disagree, but I believe they are only trouble. As for your other fish, I am not experienced with keeping them. Sorry!

Mike

The sharks are brackish to marine and need to be in groups of 5 or more (not to mention reaching almost a foot in length) so you should remove them, clowns are also a schooling fish and need a 150 gallon tank so remove that one, the chinese algae eaters do get mean when older and suck on slime coats, so remove them. The tiny catfish sound like some kind of cories and those should be in a minimum of three. Could be wrong on the cories and you really should know what it is you're putting in your tank. The Angels should be fine however. Same with the cats, assuming they are cories.

yea the prick killed one of my sharks i noticed it had no coating on it and the gut was a little eaten so i stuck them in a little fish bowl of cold water haha

There weren't any barbs mentioned.

shane: you shouldn't be cruel to the fish. It's not their fault you put the wrong ones together like that.

thats y i was going to remove the angles at the top it say what fish i have the tiger barbs

it look like the angles are going coz i want a agression

Hi again, a little more awake this morning, so I''ll have a go at a suggestion.

I would definitely take out the bala sharks and the clown loaches, those two just can't be in that tank.

Further, I would take out the Chinese Algae Eaters, unless you are prepared to run a species tank for just them (which hardly seems worth it)

Then I would decide whether to keep angels or tiger barbs, but not both. Tiger barbs might be more peaceful in a slightly bigger school.

If I went with the tiger barbs, I would be careful not to introduce any fish with long trailing fins (no angels, no guppies, no bettas)

If I went with the angels, I would be careful not to introduce any fin nippers.

(Alternatively you could get rid of both and have a school of some other hardy fish -but read up first!)

Then I would find out what the tiny catfish are. If they are corydoras, I would up the numbers to at least 3, preferably 5- of the same species. I would make sure they had plenty of hiding places and were fed a varied diet (they are not algae eaters). I would be very careful with them in a new tank and gravel vac with a partial water change at least once a week if not twice.

The snails can stay.

Then I would leave the tank for now. Eventually you would have room for more fish but I think it needs to settle down a bit first. Also, you need the time to learn about the fish you have, partly by reading more, partly by observation.

ok thanks it hard to decide which to pick lol '

by the wat how can u get rid of the fish does the fish shops buy them back off me or do i just kill them but i dont want to lose the money lol the 4 angles cost me $40 (aus) but it is part of the learning experence
