Tin foil barbs get VERY large. I have two in a 75 gl, and they are about 13"-14" long. I have had them for about six years. Needless to say they are going to a heated pond in Savannah, GA this spring 
However, I did have an Oscar in with them for awhile and there was no trouble. The barbs were a lot bigger and then Oscar got bigger than them. I guess because he grew up with them?
