I love customers saying "ooohhhh he is so cute!! Look, he's smiling!!! can he really bite?!"

So i drop in a handfull of cockle in shell and he sucks in into his mouth, plays with it and you an almight scrunch noise and he just spits out bits of shell! Then i ask them to imagine sticking their finger in his mouth  gives em a pretty good idea of the teeth this fish has and less than half grown!!

How is the limia feeding? For weeks after getting my RTC and RTCxTSN, the only well i could tell they were eating was their fat belly! I over fed and when i saw the fat belly, i siphoned out the rest of the food.

Thank got for bare bottomed tanks!! Thats all i can say!!

Can I put my Neale Monks hat on (this is a compliment, Neale has been an inspiration for me since I began the hobby, opening up my eyes to new useful knowledge almost on a daily basis) and talk about being careful not to feed fish too much thiaminase rich foods like prawns? :D

I have to admit i didnt realise puffers teeth are like what they are lol
The Lima to feed well :) because he is still so small i break up one prawn into smaller peices and he happily eats that. I feed him after my Ornate is full, because he is a pig and gets to all the food before the lima lol. Iv also noticed the Lima starting to eat pellets and bloodworm (live and frozen) so that's good. Like you said he is still shy and won't really eat when the light is on. Iv never seen him with a big belly to the point where he looks ready to pop but you can definitely tell he's eating :)

Iv never been too keen on bare bottom tanks tbh although I do sometimes think it would be a lot easier.

Thanks for the advice NOTG :)

Ok so iv had my Lima shovelnose for 2 weeks and have kept a close eye on him. He is eating well but iv not yet seen him shed his slime coat... Do I take this as a good thing as i know you (MBOU) told me they shed more often when stressed. How often should they shed if not stressed?

Do they only shed after they get to a certain size/age?

Thanks
