I'm going through the possibilites of what to stock a 4ft tank with that i'm searching for at the moment.

I'ved thought of dwarf cihclids and gouramis but wondering what oddballs I could put in there, I'm keen to find a 4x2x2 which gives 100 UK gallons or 120 US gallons.

It will have a sand substrate.

I would also like to stock some nice L number plecs in there aswell.....or not depending on what oddballs i could have???

Hmmm ... 4x2x2 ... ARCHERS!!!! Fill the tank 2 thirds up and have some over hanging branches above the water so you can watch them spit crickets down.

Hmmm I'm thinking that going to be quite high maintenance though and I'ved got to find a lave that stocks crickets local then. Although they are very pretty, I'd prefer to use the full volume to cope with maximum fish aswell!!

What about butterflyfish??

Also are there any eels that will fit in a 4ft'er......I'll be having a sand substrate so that suits any eels that will fit right...???

Great, would they be a danger to other fish in the tank?

Yer, I'm trying to decide on what to do, will be alot of stocking room!! will have to come up with a few ideas.

any other oddballs i can keep in a 4ft safely???

lol, i don't think ryan would fit in a 4ft tank!!! if he did it might stress him out or stunt him!!!

hmmm i'm waiting for the sirminion to give me some info on the fahaka puffer, although id like more than 1 fish in the tank!! :/

Be a pretty tight squeeze for me to live in a 4', obviously paul I am hard to look after and need the best quality tank. :p

You could look at a smaller species of Snakehead but you'd have to watch your companions wisely, the Eels sound good. Theres a few other possibilities but it all depends on what else you want in the tank. Bichirs, African Butterfly Fish, a Gobie species like Morgurnda morgurnda, African Brown Knife and the list goes on..........

if you were in my tank you'd get your your given and like it :p

well my must have for the tank will include

a selective few L number plecs.
4 clown loach- seeing as my current tanks are too small, so there a must have.
a few banjo cats as there sooooo cool!

i had a look at the fish index on the birchirs and they seemed to like eating anything smaller than themself so with about 6" plecs i though they'd be a no no!!

i do like knife fish, i think they look great....urm have a look at my topic in chit chat it's got a bit messed up by canasaire11 now thouhg

I saw snakeheads on my day out on the weekend, they looked pretty good, what size would there mouth grow to!!!

Plecs and fish like Birchirs are not a good mix so I'd forget them as you say. All depends on the species of Snakehead you choose, obviously you don't want something like the Red Snakehead Channa micropeltes but one of the Dwarf species like Channa gachua would fit in a tank of that size. They can be pretty nasty fish though.

Hmmmm maybe i should take a different route to this to get some bigger fish!!

which of the prementioned oddballs could leave together?

MOGURNDA GUDGEONS!!! Too few people have them and I feel alone  Butterfly fish are good, pictus cats make good scavengers for an oddball tank, and African brown knifes are cool, I had one that recently died -_-
