Cherries very much appreciate a well planted tank with a few hiding places. The thing with tall tanks is that its harder to get O2 to reach the bottom of the tank. But they'll breed without any help at all as long as the females are happy.
I'm not too sure why, but my peacock gudgeons have been mating for the past two weeks non stop. The male finally comes out of his cave as the fry start hatching the other day, I switch him to the other tank, and then when I put his cave in the other tank he darts back in with his lady and they've been in there ever since. Thought my LFS sells them for 11$ each, so I should be getting a pretty penny if these fry do well in the fry tank.
