What tank heater should I buy?

I’ve had my fish tank since August and I’ve been able to avoid getting a heater since I live in Florida. Now it’s going to start getting in the 50s and I really don’t want my water to get cold. I have a 5.5 gallon tank for my betta fish. What heater should I buy? I’m scared because a lot of reviews I’ve read for different ones says that they overheated and killed their fish. Let me know. Thanks.

I have been using the Hygger quartz aquarium heater and been very pleased with it. It keeps the temperature within 3/10 of a degree at all times. I've only been using it for about 2-3 months but have not seen the temperature fluctuations with this one as I have with some other brands.

With a 5 gallon tank, check the size of the heater before buying. Some are very long.

I bought mine off Amazon. I've also seen them at some LFS. Places like PetSmart seem to be more limited mainly carrying their own brands like TopFin.
