Hey! Do you peeps like this poll? I think it's kinda dumb, but I want to know what people think!!!!
Not trying to scare you, but goldfish actually need 10 gallons per fish. (Black moors are goldfish.) I know it seems crazy, but your little moor will grow to 6-8 inches and live 10+ years if properly cared for. Most people don't know much about the needs of goldfish when they purchase them, that's why people think that if they live 2 years, they had a full and happy life! Goldfish may well be the most misunderstood pets on the face of the earth. Besides the size of the fish being an issue for the 10 gal. rule, they are very messy, not unlike little aquatic pigs. Keeping two full grown goldies in one 10 gal. tank will cause very poor water quality, even when filtered to the max. When you go to the store, you will see a tank crammed with goldies....this is NOT the way a goldfish can survive happily for any length of time. You probably think I am going overboard with this information, but it is all true. I have two goldies in their own 10 gal. tanks (one is a black moor). I have done a LOT of research and the 10 gal. rule is really the first rule of keeping a goldfish.... Good luck to you!Marlyn said:i have my black moor in a 1.5 gallon tank in my room...but he won't be for too long my friend is going to fine me his old 10 gallon tank and then i can't get anuther one and sum tetras.
Not to mention that other myth: that they only grow to the size of the tank. As I've often pointed out, this is true only insofar as they don't live long enough to get to full adult size!bluefrog said:Not trying to scare you, but goldfish actually need 10 gallons per fish.
