What Should I Have In A 70l Tank

Urmm whats that in dumbass language. how do you measure fish?? sounds stupid i know but do you include everything i.e. mouth to end of fin?

How large are harlequins compared to neons and which, in your opinions, are nicer. which school more and are more active??

Cheers for the response!! :D

I personally think neons look very impressive in a big shoal, and because they are so small you can have quite a few too

personally i prefer harlequins because i think neons look a bit tacky, but thats my opnion

look on google at harlequins, neons etc and see what the max legnth is. harlequins is about 1 3/4 inches long each.

I think i would rather have the neons but i have read somewhere that they are hard to keep and should be in an established tank. But if you got 20 and they lived then think i might try them. Just a few at first and if there ok then add more.

So....

8 or so neons
2-3 honey gourami
2 plec

:D :D

10 harlequins would be 17.5 inches this would leave you with 12.5 inches of fish left.

neons get to about 1.25 inchs so 10 of these would be 12.5 inches leaving you with 17.5 inches of fish left

I like the look of neons but i cant get an idea of how small they are. :(

I like small fish but don't want them to be microscopic lol

if you want neons you could have 3 honeys (6") 10 neons (12.5") 2 pitbull plecos (4")

this would leave you with 7" left to play with, maybe another pleco, they feel safer in bigger groups

Thats not too small then. I rang my LFS "oasis aquarium manchester" there ment to be really good.. And they sell young and adult neons.
Think ill end up buying adults for effect, and they should be thougher no?
Seems like the setup might be:

10 neons
2-3 gourami
1-2 plec

and maybe hatchet?

The rule is only rough too, depending on the different types of fishand the different levels.

I would get EITHER harlequins or neons not both, and about 10 of each.

Just ask you LFS about their supplier and how many they loose per day, that should give you an idea about how hardy they are.

You shuld be fine with neons if you are dedicated to doing water changes and making sure the water is pefect.

Get 3 honeys, 10 harlequins, 4 corys (looks like you have settled on plecs so it would be 4 of them instead :p)

The smaller fish look good because they school therefore they look bigger as a mass, thats why i traded my pair of clowns in for more harlequins today :)

EDIT IS IN RED

I will deffo be keeping on top of water changes and quality. Don't want to waste money on a fish and end up killing it because im not doing things properly. :)

I will deffo attatch some photos and ask for improvements when its done. :D

Just be careful if you go with hatchets, they need perfect water quality.

For a schooling fish i like the Lambchop Rasboras, smaller than harlequins but similar colours :) Ive got 6
