thers one called aquaseal. standard silicone is not safe for fish at all

Anything listed as aquaria sealant should be fine, but don't let them put you to sleep that easily. When it comes to using generic sealant look for clues. If something "resists fungus" for example, it probably contains harmful additives for example. I find that actually reading the label on products helps me avoid tons of problems. You just need to remember to engage your brain and tell yourself the stuff is probably all wrong and you are going to find out why. If you fail that assignment, maybe you have an aquarium product is safe to use.

If you are talking about painting a sealant onto ornaments etc. I had to do so to prevent paint peeling off my coffins...G4 Pond Sealer has proved excellent, it dries clear and has caused no problems in my tank
