Petey Z.....I'm talking about the Sound and Great South Bay. I'm not too sure about collecting from the Atlantic near all our beaches either. I suppose that if one did the same thing....got early morning water, incoming tide, etc..it would be safe. However, driving all the way out to the jetty at West End II, Jones Beach and hauling all that back to the house, well, IMO it's a bit much. The water on the sound, near Sunken Meadow beach doesn't look too cool either. I would think near you, there is too much industry along the CT coast...Bridgeport, etc. SH

Fortunately I live in a dorm right next to a chemistry building with the DI distilled (who came up with that, it baffles me, those DI cartrages must last forever) hard plumbed in, I just have to walk like two blocks and I'm set

1) how rural are you and body of water do you use?

Im quite rural. Map following with a red arrow demonstrating collection point. I collect my NSW straight from the Southern Ocean. I had a look at your map, and if it were me, I wouldnt worry about collecting NSW from Long Island, NY.

2) how do you get the water home?

In a 30L container i bought from the camping store for the storage of drinking water.

3) do you treat your seawater before adding it into your tank?

That really depends whether you use it straight away. I do most times, and i just bring the NSW up to temp.

yea thats what i thought SH. The water near me looks really gross too. Yea i only live 2 towns over from bridgeport and with all the industry going on there, it wouldnt be a good idea to take water.
