What pleco do I have?

Bristlenose Plecs are widely available, stay small and devour alagae, great fish. They are also very hardy, which is not the case with many of the smaller Plec species.

I'll ask the LFS for them when I visit them for supplies... Meanwhile, what am I going to do with my plec? They're about an inch long now, from nose to tip of tail...

They are ok for the moment but unless you are getting a really big tank you need to take them back to the LFS asap. :/

The LFS don't want to take them back, for some reason. But just for comfirmation, I might hijack my mom's digicam and post a pic just to be really really really sure that is a common plec...

Can you try another LFS? your fish are almost certainly common's or sailfin's and need to be re-homed. Do you have a friend with a big tank who would want them?

I'll try to scout around... I might ebay it, but only as a last resort... nope, no one else likes aquarium fish, for some reason.

It will be ok if you cant find another good home for it.....I can think of far smaller tanks that a fully grown plec has been in, 50 inches will provide a wide enough tank.... As long as your filtration is up to it.

The 50 inch was a typo
Typo, not 50 inch (50" refers to a certain possession that I have), but a tiny 30" one..
Tank is a 30".
