what pleaco can i put in a 20 gallon tank the common pleaco will grow too big

What about clown plec? they stay really little but need a chunk of wood to chew and you could get more than one. Or bristlenose? check out the fish index above?

would they be ok with guppies

what like bog wood

I have a clown plec in with some guppies - He is called suck face and lives in a cave in his mopani wood. Doesn't like RTBS (red tailed black shark called ...sharkey) coming near - chases him away if he gets too close tho he's third the size. Comes out at night more, to slouch around the bottom. I give him pleco tabs with wood in them too at night. The guppies are busy elsewhere - all they ever think about is sex, well they boys, anyway!

god - don't just do what I suggest - far too much responsibility!! :-( have a look at the pics and stats in the catfish section of the fish index and get some other people's views, please! There are some other lovely fish you could try - but these are not for a new set up and are mre expensive too.

ok i will ask at the catfish forum ;)

thanks for the advice :D

DONT get a clownplec. They need wood in their diet and should be in groups!

If your tank is lightly stocked then go for a bristlenose or a rubbernose(bulldog) pleco. There are various other plecs that stay under 3.5-4" but most of them dont eat much algae.

Ben

i simply feed my clown plec lettuce and wafers.he also eats a little algae.i can see on the tank where he sucked off.

i see him about once every 2 days.and i dont have any wood in my tank.saw him a little while ago actually

i need one which will eat lots algae

or i could get a baby pleaco

a common will be full grown (12-18" ) in about 12 months - not a baby for long.

If your looking for an algae eating plec the clown is not for you... get a bristlenose ;)

as smithrc has said, BN's are the king of algae eaters ;)

I've got 3 in my tank at the moment, and I never have to clean the glass !!! Top clean up crew ;)

Just be aware that they do produce rather a lot of poo !!!!
