hello imstarting to think fish stores and plant sellers on ebay are out to rip you off i spent $100 on anubis nana and they tould me they can go into th esubstrate (my echo complete and they will do good) they been in for almost a week and dont like like there doing that great.

is there any plants easy to keep that i can just plant in the gravel and be done with it that i dont have to tie to rocks or drift wood? im kind of bumd out now that i spen all that money on them and have a feeling they will die and i have no drift wood or rocks. so im looking for plants easy to keep that can be planted directly into the echo complete that will survive on that ferts and my co2. thankyou for help i know i make alot of threads juts trying o learn more abou tthis stuff so i dont keep waisting my money.

They are easy to keep you just only put the roots in the substrate not the bottom of the plant, that must be left out of the substrate. After a while they'll root well and look great.

mine are doing great in my eco sub they did have me worried for awhile
give it a chance im sure they'l do well soon

just make sure you keep up with the fert tabs

okay so i do still have a litte room left and a little corner in back i was thinking maybe some swords. i do have a question i was interested in trying the microsword i have read it grows like a grass and takes over bottem of tank is this true or do u have to buy a ton of them? and i have been reading stuff about my filter and some stuff i been reading says u cant use carbon in a fish tank cause it eats up the nutrients plants need. my filter is the aqua clear i think 70 g filter with the big sponge thing on top of that goes the carbon or whatever it is in black bag then some yellow color rock things. i know what swords are and how to care for them even though they all died wich i think was because they werent getting proper nutrients and my #41#### parrots wouldnt stop destroying them and eating them but i got rid of them im just stuck with 3 tiger barbs now do they eat plants? glad ot hear th enubias should start doing really good since as of now some plants roots are in gravel and some are not but close to it and the green thing there on that looks liek th evine is abouve the gravel. so any suggestions on some plants i can plant in the gravel as a kind of middle plant? also i have a piece of mal. drift wood i was thinking maybe i can get some moss on it does anyone know if u can put moss on a 12" drift wood all the way around and were i could buy it in bulk an dwhat the best kind of moss would be? i know i ask alot but again im just trying to learn more about this stuff and get going so soon my tank will look great.

o and what kind of fert tabs should i use and how do they work do i just let them sink in tank or how do i do that i seen them at pets mart but the directions didnt say what to do just said put in tank and watch plants grow!

hey jenbo i noticed u have some nice java ferns in your picture below ur name. do u mind me asking how do u get them look that nice and were do u buy them? i baught mine off ebay and they are all dying or not really growing at all the only luck i had was a big giant mat but that kind of grew to big leaves went almost to top of tank but that was also $30 got rid of it because it looked strange in thr tank i really love how your java ferns look and thats what i was going to load up on but my java ferns never did good i baught off ebay from different sellers they were always a dark dark green color o they would be a lime green and start getting brown dots on leaves all over with little whole, then they die. same thing with the java fern lace i tried except some leaves turned brown died righ taway and others looked like they went dark dark brown or black. and when i had my large java fern mat as what the seller called it it was constantly growing roots all over with little plants growing on th eleaves i asked seller i baught it from about that he said that means my tank/water setup is perfect for growing ferns. so any way how did u get them that nice looking?

Right, carbon is only active for a few weeks I believe so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Pygmy Chain Swords do carpet the bottom but grow a couple of inches tall and it would take forever, if I were you I'd go to the Tropica website and find something suitable for your set up, i.e ferts, co2, lighting etc, once you have done that go to the green machine online and you will find they sell pretty much all the tropica range. Also if I were you I'd go with a sword if you have space for a large plant, regular swords are very easy to care for and look great even a red one if you wanted some colour. The reason your Java Fern died is prob cos you have to treat it the same way you treat an Anubias when planting, either glue it to some wood or dont bury the spine, just plant the root. When it comes to moss don't put it all the way round your wood as if it doesn't get any light it will die even tho it needs very little if it gets none it will die eventually. Just get some java, christmas, flame or weeping moss java is cheapest and they go up in price in the order I listed them and put it on the top of the wood in the light, tie it on with cotton or fishing wire and it will eventually use its tiny roots to attach itself to it. Personally I'd go with flame or weeping for drift wood as flame stands upright once submerged and weeping flows over it and they both look awesome. Ebay would probably be your best bet for mosses it usually has loads listed. Hope that helps. :good:

that helped alot so you know i have co2 hagen system but i use sugar and yeast instead of th ejunk in packets. i use flurish liq ferts thats all for fert i use. i checked ebay for moss but they only sell java moss in bag an dthe bags not good what i was wondering if theres any companys out there that will sell it in bulk were one order will do me whole drift wood i would say about a foot long its hard to desribe my drift wood if u no what im taling about from th etop to bottem is say its about 2-3" but is in shape like a triangle drops straight off and ery top might only be 1cm wide if u have a cell phone i can send u a picture of the drift wood my camera is dead. its no tlike some drift wood i seen that was like a round log shape this kind looks like thin wood if u would place it on its side that think so im not sure if that would be hard attaching anything to it or what.

Look on uk ebay and see if they will ship it to you, there's loads here.
