What plants and decorations should i use for a Platies tank?.

Thanks.

Karen.

It depends if you intend to breed them? And how many males per female etc.

Generally - you need loads of cover for the females and the fry! Plenty of places to hide and not be chased.

Floating plants like Riccia fluitans to provide hiding places for the fry.

I'm not a great lover of Pots "n" Stuff as you say, They look much nicer in a densely planted tank. Preferably with all the same species of plant. Plant the back, middle and sides and leave the front for swimming.

ok thanks for the tip. any other tips?.

I would just add that platies are active and (IMO) intelligent fish who like to potter around and explore. So whatever your aesthetic preferences it is a good idea to provide an interesting tank for them with "things to do", like plants to dive into. I've got a slate bridge in one of mine, which they like going under. Even if you don't breed, there can be hierarchical squabbles where it really helps for the weaker part to have a bit of private hiding space.
