I have a dog who is a Jack Russell with labrador and who knows what else in him. Yesterday marked 4 years since I took him on at 5 weeks of age. I also have a ginger cat that my dog adopted. In 2011, an animal rescuer advertised that she was starting pet sitting so I contacted her and asked if she could look after the dog for 4 days and she said that he could go for a visit and if he got along with her pets then he could go there. He got along fine with them, and the foster animal room door stayed shut so that was no problem. Anyway, her 5 year old son opened the door and all the kittens started hissing and hiding, except one, this little 3.5 week old ginger kitten who walked right up to my dog to check him out. My dog sat quietly then touched him on the back with his paw, then laid down and licked him. That was it then. I picked him up and was told all about it. From then on we visited weekly, sometimes I'd visit in my lunch break from work as well and sit with the kitten until he was 8 weeks old and could come home with us. He'll be 2 this year. That's my little family, a 9 year old daughter, a 4 year old dog, a 1.5 year old cat, a 1 year old fighter fish, 2 guppies not sure of their age, and a little baby bristlenose catfish.
