My Cardinals also feed in the centre of the tank, i sometimes fed them live daphnia, they love 'um, the little daphnia get chewed up the bigger ones get grabbed, and stucked to death, then the fish either spit out the shell/skin (what is it on a daphnia??), or munch that up too. It's great
