I was told it was an indonesian water scorpion but i'm not so sure cause i've heard of both indonesian and chinese.
And yes i know you were joking about.

If the plants were ordered from abroad, it might not be a good idea to release what could be a non-native critter into the environment regardless of whether it has laser eyes.

umm i think that it might be a neptunian zangliote, these guys get bigger than 3' try 30'. be careful in industrialized zones it has been known to fashion a lazer on its tail to fire at people with. its favorite earth food is anything big and meaty. it will use its diamond embedded claws to overturn structres to look for anything big and meaty and is very clumsy, stepping over anything that isnt big and meaty which then it promptly eats if it is big and meaty.

tastes like oyster

Haha,
Something tell me this post has gone a little overboard!
Amy.

well you lot are just being silly now, lazer eyed lochness diamond monsters *tut*.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO DONT PUT IT IN YOUR POND, that is a urigamus monixidus, it the larvea of an indonesian water scorpion and will grow to 3 ft long. as a larvea it will be capable of killing the hardiest of pond fish let alone your aquarium fish. im surprised it hasnt killed of your entire aquarium allready. i suggest you contact the uk border agency, they need to be contacted as soon as possible and will probably quarantine your house to contain it as a fully grown specimen will be more than capable of feeding on dogs and small children. also it carries tb. im no expert and could be mistaken but better safe than sorry

Its one of the Ephemeroptera (Damsel flies, plus water scorpians are quite common in the UK, as well as water stick insects. Heres a good pic of an aussie waterscorpian, exiting the water (never seen that before!).
