I'm looking to set up another tank and am looking to buy filter and heater. Is there any particular brand better than the other or even any brand I should aviod?

Not sure about filter brands but heater-wise, I like Visitherm heaters. Good temperature range, more accurate and reliable.

I have the Marineland Stealth - works great. Only thing I don't like is there's no indicator light.

i also have a marineland one
its absolutely great
the satus light doesnt matter much because it keeps the temperature within .2degrees of what you set it to

id rather have the thermometer prove my heater is working than a status light which fooled me before and cause a few fish to die from overheating

How much do the marineland one cost? where can you puchase them ?

I'd go for the Visitherm; five year guarantee. Had mine for three years now without a problem.

my 50watt marineland one was about $32 at petco

i would go with visitherm for the 5year guarantee
i think marineland has a 2 year idk
