what loach?

i inherited both my tanks, my first one came with a couple of fish my question is about a loach i inherited, i think its a loach, now its about 3inches long is brown with black paterns, there kinda like stripes but there are hoops kinda like woodgrain can anyone identify this and if so tell me a bit about it i.e how bog will he grow??
