So I bought shrimp a few months ago cause I thought my fish were young enough to not fit the shrimp in their mouths at the time…. And I was clearly proven wrong and I thought they had all died.

Until today.

I rearranged my tank, cleared away a lot of the yucky debris that had collected on the bottom. And. WHOOPS. THERES SHRIMPS. REALLY BIG SHRIMPS.

They pulled an uno reverse card on me.

Wig snatched.

and I can’t for the life of me remember what type they were. All I know is that when I brought them home they were a fraction of the size. The shrimps are about an inch and a half long now.

And very fat. Starting to look yummy even to me 😂

Looks like Neocaridina to me, but 1 1/2" is HUGE for that type of shrimp

Sheeeeesh! Thats MASSIVE for those shrimp! What are you feeding them??

I agree it looks like Neocaridina, perhaps even the orange Sunkist strain. Awesome that they've gotten so big! Lovely looking crustaceans you have.

looks like low grade yellow neos and a orange couple of them there...
mixed colors reds+yellows?

I had cherry shrimps that were about the same size but those were kept outdoors. So, I do think it's possible that these shrimps of the topic starter were able to grow up this size as well.

Fascinating.

Creatures that thrive on neglect flakes and I-didn’t-even-know-you-existed sinking shrimp pellets.

They’re in a 55 gallon.

Seems like even the other occupants of the tank forgot about them too.
