What Kind Of Pleco Do I Have? Pic

I got some new pics this morning once I got him out of hiding:

I think I'd have to go with Kathy on this one, he doesn't look sp3 to me, not as clearly defined spots? But they are very variable so it could be.

Either way, he's an ancistrus of some description, most get to the same size as sp. 3, and need the same conditions - so whatever you've got, he's lovely :)

Thanks for the extra pics! He's looking less and less like a common sp. 3 to me. I'm not "qualified" enough to say he's definitely triradiatus, but I think those pics would warrant a trip over to Pleco Fanatics to get the experts' advice if you're nosey like me (although Lisa is right that it doesn't make much if any difference care/size wise). :good:

yep - looks different to a common - different markings :)

I'd try the planet catfish forums myself ;)

Ok, thanks everyone! I really only need to know how to care for him, and if hes ok in a 26 gallon aqurium, so if thats a go, then we are all good!

"most" ancistrus only get to 6" so you should be fine ;)

there are some exceptins - but not that look like that (to the best of my knowledge).
