Pretty darn quick I'm afraid, depending on the food he gets.

Under ideal conditions, he could be an adult in a year or so but ideal is rare in the home aquarium even more so than in nature so you might have a little longer.

As far as I am aware, there are only two species in the acanthicus group which are a. hystrix and a. adonis

What you have there my friend, is a common pleco, and a handsome chap he is too.

Yep, totally a common. He looks exactly like a mini version of mine.
