Hello, I'm having a bit of a time finding info on these fish. I'm considering getting a few to spruce up my living room, and perhaps breed them later

I can't find the scientific name of this one, maybe I'm not looking in the right place

I really like this one.

If I do breed them, I have a sneaking suspicion that I won't have trouble getting rid of fish that look like this!

Does anyone know where I could get them?

Thanks!

No idea, but OMG, aren't they spectacular?!
Have you considered trying a killifish club?
I know I've come across references to some in my internet travels...

Well, I finally ID'd them as Aphyosemion sp Oyo. The catch is that typing "Aphyosemion sp Oyo for sale" into google provided only 3 pages of results, with many of them other people looking to buy any available fish. So, perhaps my endeavors will be best directed at a species that is a little easier to obtain.

Some killifish (especially annual species that live in temporary pools for a single season) are very hard to come by through normal means. There's basically only two species that I ever see at the LFS (golden wonders and blue panchax). There's a lot of killifish breeder associations, which are usually a better bet.

I don't know where you're at, but I agree at looking at other killis. Check out the Fundulopanchax gardneri. A small LFS near me has them. Or you can try ordering from aquabid or an online company or get your LFS to order them for you.

if you look on ebay.co.uk there is supposedly a fantastic killifish breeder there (i think they are from hong kong or vietnam?) i have heard many good stories from people buying eggs off this seller and hatching there own killifish.

PM BigC, he knows all there is too know about killifish.
i love your reason by the way " to spruce up the living room"
you would probably be better off getting eggs and hatching them as killifish have a very short life expectancy

May find that particular species fairly hard to get hold of, Was there any other species that interests you.
Regards
BigC
