What kind of food for Malawi Cichlids?

The second picture you posted is of a Cynotilapia Afra "White Topped" Male. Excellent fish, i keep one with 3 females and there colours are amazing....

Personally, I feed them mix of OSI Spirulina flakes, New Life Spectrum Pelletes and Hikari Excel pelletes. Never had any bloat problem and they are breeding nicely. I do stay away from fat-rich food. I believe Afra requires a bit more attention on the diet than the Yellow Labs (which eats pretty much anything). Perhaps you should feed more vegetarian foods similar to what I am doing.

I do feed them fresh vegetables about once a week as well - usually cucumber.

I personally don't feed them any shrimps but it should be ok. Just don't over do it...
