When I stocked my tank I asked for 10 ember tetras. After watching for a month this particular fish just doesn’t seem like it’s an ember. I can’t find any other fish that looks like it. The embers are a transparent red and they rarely move their fins when swimming. This fish is more silver and not transparent, with red fins and a black spot on his tail. When he swims he darts forward and stops on a dime and begins vibrating his fins before darting again. Watching them together, he acts completely different than the embers and doesn’t even school with them. Can someone please tell me what kind of fish this is?

Looks like an erythromicron danio. Tops out at 3/4 inch.

The body shape and fin placements do match up nice and it does have the same black speck on the tail. However the main color of this fish isn’t a blue at all and it has no stripes, it’s just a solid silver body.That's my thought too. Look at the photos here to compare to your fish
The photo makes it look like it has stripes, that's why we thought it was a female Celestichthys erythromicron.

That is the female. The males are blue and they are darker per the pecking order. I have a school of 15. very cool fish
I’d say you guys are right and thank you all so much! I hate it but I really don’t have any room to add more and they’re a schooling fish. Even though it’s a pretty heavily planted tank with an overhauled filter I think I’ve pushed it to the limit already. I guess I’ll see if Petco will take it back to rehome, there aren’t any fish stores remotely close to me besides Petco and petsmart.
