Okay, well, I've had these Cories for about 4 years and I finally just got around to posting to find out what they are. Sad, I know, but hey. I've heard many opinions from many people, including Network Cories, Julii Cories, Corydoras Schwartzi ( ) and Corydoras haraldschultzi plus many others. None of those fit these fish perfectly, though, so I want to know exactly what they are though. :p

Here's the pictures:

(Ignore the tank, they are definitely not kept in those kind of conditions...it was a holding tank that they were in while I moved them from the 20g to the 30g and they stirred up long forgotten dirt)

Thanks.

Hi Annastasia :)

I don't know what kind of corys they are, but I have some too.

I do know that they aren't any of the names mentioned above. Are yours on the small side too?

Haha, so I'm not alone in my Cory IDing cluelessness. :p

Mine aren't very small...the fattest ones are about 3". They are at least 4 years old though...so who knows. When I got them they were about 1" at most. Very slow growers.

Hi Annastasia :)

Yours are bigger than mine are. Mine are probably around 2 1/2" long and delicate looking compared to say, bronze corys. They were small when I got them, and sickly, but I have them for about two years now. :D

I wouldn't say mine are delicate looking...they are pretty fat looking to me. I suppose they are a little thinner then my bronzes, but not by much. That's funny, because when I got mine, they were kind of sickly looking too...

Wow, snap. You have matching mystery cories

It looks like you are the proud owner of a fantastic looking school of Corydoras Sodalis. Congratulations they look fantastic. I'd love to get some myself  .

Indeed they are, we stock those from time to time and they are generally labelled as "Network Cory - Corydoras Sodalis".

Those look a lot like Corydoras trilineatus. The ones I have look a lot like those pictured above. Now I gotta take a closer look at the ones I have

Ooooh, you're right! They DO look like Corydoras Sodalis. Thank you so much! :D And Bunji, that makes sense too. Thanks!

Look Inchworm, now we have matching Corydoras Sodalis. :p

Barracuda518, they look nothing like Corydoras trilineatus.. These have a much more distinct black banding down their sides and have more of a spotted pattern rather than the wiggley lines the Sodalis have.

Sorry, I did not look at the pictures clearly enough I guess

It's the False Network Cory, the Network Cory being C. reticulatus. ;)

You can tell the difference between the False Network Cory, or C. Sodalis and the Network Cory, or C. Reticulatus, by looking at the pattern of stripes right after the pectoral fin and from the midsection down to the belly. On the C. Sodalis, which is the cories you have Annastasia, you can see the pattern of waves changes to lines that run vertically to the belly. The Network Cory has a true continuation of the pattern all the way down to the belly that it has on the rest of its body. Subtle difference, but important if buying or selling fish and labeling them correctly.
