It's possible you're too close for the camera to focus, hence the blurriness. It's tough to get fish pictures with a regular camera as you can't see if it came out alright or not until you get the pictures back. With a digital you can see right away if it was any good, and if it wasn't, delete and try again. Digital cameras range from under $100 for crappy stuff to almost $1000 for top of the line SLR's. I just bought a Sony Cybershot 4.1 for $199.99 and I love it! Previously I bought a Vivitar Vivicam 3935 or something like that and it was crap! Wouldn't focus in macro mode and the LCD was too jumpy to lineup a good shot. I returned it the next day and got the Sony. If you do get a Digital, I would suggest nothing lower than 3.0 megapixels, it's well worth the few extra dollars as the quality will be much better.

The coloring of the betta has nothing to do with whether it's a crowntail or a plakat. crowntails and plakats can be any color!
