OK where the heck are the real wild type bettas in your list? I look to acquire things like Betta simplex and Betta pugnax but I do not see them on your list. It all seems to be various color and fin forms of Betta splendens that you consider.

why only 1 option its sooo hard to choose! then why only CT or HM

I want a Marbled Dragon HMPK/HM that site seems pretty inaccurate though, there PK male is clearly HMPK and the Deltas/Super delta info is pretty bad :/

How about:

I want to breed the Red and Black Crowntail as well. I'd love to see what would result. But it'd also be cool to see what would happen when the cream and red betta fry look like. I'd start 2 spawns, one for the Crowntail and one for the Halfmoon. I'd interrupt the spawning after about 50 eggs so this can be a test spawn so I can see what results and they'll be raised in a 10gal with the father in with the fry (if he's not a fry eater) and the males will be jarred at the correct age.

I like both the first and second pair :) If you do breed I'd be happy to buy a few :D

Yes. A potential buyer. Well I did some research into Betta genetics and realized some things such as black females are "apparently" infertile. If I bred the red with the black I'll get all red fry but if I bred one of those fry to another black female, half the spawn will be black and half red. So I'll have to look for another color. But the genetics on the Butterfly seem nice and I should get some nice butterfly fry but the dormant gene in either of those fish means I could get anyting really. Especially since the male is from the pet store and I have no genetic background on him.

@KrystaK I wanted to know what country you live in since apparently it would cost $200 to ship a Betta to Australia (which is about how far I can ship). So I need to talk to the post office about their rates.

I can't believe that people generally prefer halfmoons to crowntails. I'd kill for a dragonscale crowntail. There's a picture of one on the 'introducing your new fish leaflet' from my local fish shop and everytime I get new fish I stare at the picture, but they never stock them! :-(

They're great if you find the right one, but generally I prefer half-moons.

lol I think it's probably just the charm of the unknown seeing as I've only ever had halfmoons.

I added my HM to his 5gal section thinking he's docile. Then he started flaring at the crowntail on the other side. So I wondered what would happened if I put a mirror to him. Here's what happened:

I live in Southern Ontario :) Since I read you're Canadian too I would hope shipping wouldn't be to expensive as there aren't any national borders to cross - but then again Canada is a pretty big country

A wild type Betta for me. I am especially fond of the group that comprise the mouth brooders. I have kept Betta imbellis, Betta simplex and Betta pugnax in the past but have never succeeded yet in breeding them. My simplex bred but the male died of starvation while carrying his mouthful of eggs after 2 consecutive breedings. At the time I did not understand that I must remove the female to prevent him being forced to carry batch after batch of eggs. Simplex will not eat while carrying eggs and they carry eggs for weeks.
