What is your dream tank?

I hate those people... Cant take no for an answer
It's the worst when they'd bring their kids in, all puppy-eyed and begging (yelling at) their parents for "Nemos" just to be told they can't put a clown loach in a 5g.

And anyone who's worked in an LFS knows how parents come in so their kids can treat it like it's Seaworld!

My other dream tank might actually happen someday: A paludarium of a Wyoming desert riparian area. Upstairs, desert plants and a waterfall with lots of native mosses and riparian wildflowers, sagebrush lizards and boreal chorus frogs.

Downstairs, native water plants, plains killifish, stonerollers, and crawdads.
Love crawdads. If it ever comes into fruition, I'd like to be the first to see the lovely little crawdaddies!
I might actually be able to do that one in a financially responsible manner. But what fun is that????
"Financially responsible" is just another word for "boring"! Sink yourself into thousands of dollars worth of debt for the sake of the fish!

@PlasticGalaxy Do you have crawdads in England? I'm sure over there you're all proper and call them "crayfish" or "wee lobsters" or something like that.

Regarding whiny kids at the pet shop. I know I've shared this story before. One time we were at a huge mall pet store. While checking out the darkened fish room in back, we heard this kid incessant whining up front, interspersed with a very grouchy parent telling them to shut up. Geez, we thought, what an annoying kid and stupid set of parents, putting up with that. But the conversation kept going for several minutes: Whine, whine, SHUT UP! Whine, whine, SHUT UP!"

We finally went up front and found out, to our huge amusement, that the whole thing was a huge hyacinth macaw, replaying on endless loop the conversation that he no doubt heard constantly. So funny for us; less so for the poor guy manning the cash register.

I'm not actually sure! I'm sure you could find at least one if you looked hard enough though. They're great little things though, first heard about them from this when I was younger.

Oh no! Well, I'm sure you know that when working at "family friendly" retail shops, you don't even need a macaw, you just hear it all the damn time. Surprisingly, not the worst part of the job...

Legislation in England and Wales allows just one crayfish species to be kept "for ornamental reasons" and that's Cherax quadricarinatus. Even this one is illegal in Scotland.
But that doesn't stop people keeping the illegal ones :(

Mine is a crazy idea - a tank that goes around three walls of a room, at maybe one foot to 18 inches deep. It would be a stream tank, with different parts of a stream - a shallow bog area, a riffle or two, some longer deeper sand bottom stretches, all with plants chosen for the environment, and all western African. I'd have terrestrial riverbank plants behind it, shading the water with their leaves. I would put lampeye, Chromaphyosemion and and Aphyosemion killies as fish, with a bunch of Enteromius barbs. And hulstaerti barbs... yeah, them too. I might have a pair or two of Pelvicachromis kribensis (not 'kribs, which are P. pulcher, and are too large for my plan). Yup. It would be more than 20 feet long and there would be mostly 1-2 inch fish in it. I'd start with a few, and see what happened over time.
Why not dream ambitiously? I've made three and four foot versions, but you can't do much. I'm the old Pinky and the Brain cartoon characters with a fishtank.
You mean kinda like my bathroom arrangement?

Had the dreadful thought of seeing the wrong kind of floater in your tank... Or loo, for that matter.
No, only the right kinda floaters there. The husband forgot to flush again. Didn’t notice when taking pic because the cichlids were so active, all trying to get in the pic. Showoffs. So I had edit out a lotta 💩💩💩
